ControlPak™ Power Source

The Aquos BC-8 Benthic Chamber is connected to the ControlPak™ by a waterproof cable.  The ControlPak™ contains a sealed, deep-cycle marine-grade 12VDC battery and a Stepper Motor Controller (SMC).  The SMC is used to set the speed of the Stepper Motor in the benthic chamber, simply by turning a graduated knob. 

The ControlPak™ is available in two versions: a waterproof version that can be submerged (the ControlPak-S™) and a splash-proof version that is deployed on land, a jetty, pier, dike, buoy or boat (the ControlPak-A™).  Click here to see an overview of the benthic chamber system components.

There are 3 versions of the ControlPak-S:

ControlPak-SP, for depths up to 13 feet (3.9m)
ControlPak-SQ, for depths up to 50 feet (15m)
ControlPak-SR, for depths up to 100 feet (30m)

When the benthic chamber is to be deployed with the ControlPak-S (the -SP, -SQ or the -SR), select Item # BC-800S for the Aquos™ BC-8 Benthic Chamber.  This version of the benthic chamber is furnished with a waterproof, male plug to connect to the waterproof female plug on the ControPak-S™.

Choosing the Right ControlPak

The female socket on the ControlPak and the male plug on the power cord of the benthic chamber are rated at IP67 when mated correctly.  Advantage?  You keep dust and water out of the connection between the battery and the motor, preventing a short circuit.
